Classical Dance and Folk Dance

Classical Chinese dance was developed and passed down continuously over thousands of years within the imperial palace, ancient Chinese theater and opera. It originated from the martial arts. Over the course of centuries, some of the more dramatic movements from the battlefield were incorporated and refined into classical Chinese dance.

Flips are classical Chinese dance’s most distinct techniques. The jumping, turning, and flipping techniques, along with the exquisiteness of the bearing and form, give classical Chinese dance special expressivity.
